Quay with first-class discharging facilities

Sperlingkaj has been designed to make the receiving facilities at the TripleNine A/S fishmeal and fish oil factory future-proof, and support industrial fishing vessels with fast discharging, flexibility and optimal service.

Simple passage to the quay

The new Sperlingkaj quay lies directly opposite the entrance to the Port of Thyboron. Navigation to the quay is simple and straightforward.

High capacity discharging

The new discharging facilities at the TripleNine A/S fishmeal and fish oil factory have moved things up a gear. Discharging is now considerably faster, with two parallel draining systems which can receive up to 300 tonnes an hour using the self-unloading function. The high speed makes a big difference to how quickly vessels can return to sea.

Easy access to supplies

The new quay has been designed to allow industrial fishing vessels to refill all supplies during discharging. Supplies can also be delivered much faster. The water utility can supply fresh water at a flow rate of up to 160 m³/hour.

The Malik Energy A/S bunker fuel supplier has also built a new MGO tank system that increases capacity by 1,900 m3 and connects the existing systems together. There are now three flexible systems for supplying bunker fuel at the new Sperlingkaj. Three new self-service stands with a bunker fuel capacity of 600 l/min have been installed along the new quay. The bunker capacity from the stands can be increased to 1,500 l/min by connecting a three-inch hose with assistance from Malik Energy A/S or via bunker barges that deliver fuel wherever the vessel is berthed.

Safety

At the Port of Thyboron, we focus strongly on safety every time new port facilities are built. This is also the case on Sperlingkaj, which is equipped with yellow high-visibility rescue ladders with LED lights, so they are easy to locate in any weather, and rescue stations.

Easy access for maritime services

To optimise the time vessels spend in port, the new discharging quay facility has been designed to allow fishing vessels to receive maritime services while they are berthed to discharge. The new quay offers easy access for maritime services, e.g. to inspect and repair trawls, and there is access for cranes. All this can now be done in parallel with discharging.
